Urban Collaborative

A New Campus

After careful study over several years, the Conway School has decided to start a second campus--an urban satellite--as a complement to its main campus.

Very generous gifts from Conway alums and friends are making possible the initial phases of this launch, at a time when making cities more ecologically healthy and livable has never been more important. Eighty percent of Americans--and fifty percent of the world's population--now live in cities.

The curriculum at the urban campus will follow the tried-and-true Conway teaching model and graduates from the new campus will receive the same degree--Master of Science in Ecological Design--as those graduating from the main campus. Applicants may now choose between two locations.

When and where?

  • the new campus will open in September 2015
  • it will be located in Easthampton, Massachusetts in the historic Mill 180, next to a bike path and within walking distance of the town center, rental housing, and essential amenities

Who is the Urban Collaborative for?

  • individuals who would like to live, work, and learn all in the same urban environment
  • students who wish to live a car-free lifestyle
  • residents of the Springfield-Hartford metropolitan region who can more easily commute to Easthampton than Conway
  • project clients from New England and around the world
  • faculty interested in contributing to a whole-systems, experience-based education
  • the local community, which is invited to engage with Conway on project work, public educational opportunities, and other forms of collaboration

With much excitement and gratitude,
